The sun shone brightly at the lady captain, Ann Williams’s day, at South Pembs Golf Club. Eighteen ladies played in the 18-hole individual stableford during the day in almost perfect conditions and special thanks go to the green staff for their care of the course which played beautifully. There were three categories and the winners were:
Category 1: 1. Jayne Lewis, 2. Jane Parsons and 3. Carole Blackwell
Category 2: 1. Ann Rees, 2. Sharon Kaye and 3. Carole Chichester
Category 3: 1. Hilary Harries, 2. Maggie Power and 3. Christina Jackson.
There were two nearest the pin competitions, which were won by Lynne Rees on the third hole and Jayne Lewis on the ninth.
Following the golf, there was a well-attended presentation dinner which concluded with the lady captain receiving a gift and flowers from the ladies in appreciation of the day, the fabulous prizes and her organisation, from her vice-captain, Jayne Lewis.
Congratulations also go to Team South Pembs. in The GUW Ping Mixed Foursomes who in round one (Ann Williams and Chris Veale, Jayne Lewis and Simon Bourne, Lynne Rees and Paul Grimwood) beat Pontardawe at Ashburnham 2-1.
In round two, (Chris Veale substituted by Richard Scourfield) they beat Glynhir at Machynys 2-1. Good luck in the next round to you all.
The ladies would also like to congratulate Alan Jones on his result in the Dyfed Championship held at Tenby recently. Alan, who has been Dyfed champion three times, was runner-up to Luke Harries, who won after 36 holes in very difficult conditions. We also congratulate Luke, who is a past member at South Pembs.
