The sunny weather smiled generously, the course was top notch and the catering as usual exceptional for the society’s May outing, to Derllys Court Golf Club at Bancyfelin.
As befitted a great day for golf, scoring was high; seven of two-dozen society members played under net par, whilst four of eight threesomes managed 100 or more Stableford points between them, and the other four 90 or more.
With 10 more points than anyone else, Wynne Andy Capp Richards and Bob Dixie Forest helped the day’s big winner Steve Dwr Rigby - an exceptional 42 points - bag the team prize, with Dixie happily converting his nearest the pin for a two.
Second individual overall, John Hamster Hammond, helped ease Keith Director Leverton and John Dynamo Richards to the third team place, behind Martin Dangler Davies, Peter Peroni Hughes and Jack Macaroni Zeraschi, the second placed team.
Third individual overall was Allan Snuff Gawith, playing with John Pierre Voysey and Trevor Santa Lewis. Joel Lofty Braithwaite, eased through 18 holes with Steve Gizmo Jones and Dave Smiler Green, embellishing his round with the longest drive off the eighth tee and then managing to finish the hole pointless …. so much for the big hitters!
Roger Analyst Handcock, playing with Mike Slippery Skidmore and Tom Tiger Woods, bagged the other two, whilst Graham Victor Longster, Rob The Builder Nixon and Perry Bonzo Phillips performed modestly; better overall it must though be said than John Pashmina Perrott (wooden spoonist yet again), playing with Barry Nippy Neale and Nigel Scissors Taylor, the latter nevertheless cutting a fine figure, managing an exceptional five Stableford points on the tricky 11th hole.
Worthy of repetition... a great day at Derllys much enjoyed by all. Let’s hope we get good weather again for our June meeting at The Gower Golf Club, on the 14th. Details on the society web site http://www.kilgettygolf.co.uk
