On Saturday, the 125-year Anniversary Shield was played for at Tenby Golf Club. The shield was donated in 2013 by Chris Beecher, who was club captain at the time. This is a mixed event which is in the format of a greensomes medal.

Twenty pairs took to the fairways on a warm and sunny morning. The course was in good condition and conducive to low scores.

For those people who did not play so well, there was always the hope of winning the bag draw. Four couples won their entry fee back. They were Richard Ormond and Sarah Waring, John Hancock and Sue Griffiths, Nigel Ayers and Julie Tordoff, Jim Moffatt and Maura Gunning.

There were only four twos. Allan Morton and Fair Ball claimed two of them - on the 6th and 12th. Lucy and Mike Anthony also had one on the 12th and the final two was on the 17th from Anna and Keith Hubbard.

As expected, there were some good scores and it was close between the top couples.

In fourth place with 71.2 points were John Hancock and Sue Griffiths. Steve and Pam Cole were third with 68.6 points. In second place with 66.4 points were Chris and Carol Beecher. Chris just missed out getting his name on the shield that he had donated. The winners with the same score, but a better back nine, were Allan Morton and Fair Ball. This will be the second time they have their name on the shield as they were the first winners in 2013.

Thanks to Tom in the Pro Shop, Emma and her staff for looking after us in the clubhouse and the lady captain Irene for presenting the prizes.

The final mixed event of the year will be on Wednesday, December 28, when the annual Charity Mixed will be played. The computer will be open for entries from December 7.
