Whitland Juniors AFC under 12s and 13s recently held their end of season presentation evening.
It had been a hard season for both teams but the spirit and commitment shown in every game was a credit to the club.
Every player received a trophy, and trophies also went to:
Players Player - Lee Strudly (U12) and Louis Summers (U13s); Player of the year - Ryan Taylor (U12s), Callum Leavitt (U13s); Most improved players - Jack Jenkins and Tommy Wilson (U12s), Liam Summers andJake Howells (U13s); Top goal scorers - Freddie Davies (U12s), Dan Legrice (U13s); and clubman of the year went to Dion Morgan.
Thanks go to Ceri Phillips from Swansea City for presenting the trophies.
Gifts were also given to Richard (Under 12s coach), and Rob (U13s coach) and Mair (club secretary).
Whitland will be starting an Under 15s team for next year so in preparation entered a few tournaments this summer as an Under 14s side.
First up was the Llanybydder tournament, and with only one training session behind them and playing teams that have been together for years, the boys were told to just go and play and have fun, but they did much more then that playing really well and narrowly losing in the quarter-finals 1-0, losing only one other game all day.
Next up was the Boncath tournament and with a few changes in the team they went on to win all their group games scoring 13 goals and only conceding one.
Into the semi-finals they went to meet the team that beat them in Llanybydder, and this time Whitland stepped up their game to beat them 1-0, so it was into the final to play a team that has won it for the last three years.
After a very tight 12 minutes it went into extra time and the golden goal, with Rhys Nicholas popping up after two minutes to score the winner to seal the tournament for Whitland.
Rhys was also awarded player of the tournament!
The team spirit was amazing all day and left everyone thinking what they will be like once they start training together.
