Tenby Under 13s are through to the semi-finals of the West Wales Cup after a convincing win over Clarbeston Road.
Drawn away to Clarbie Road, who Tenby have had many close encounters with over the last few seasons, the boys knew they had to be at their best to get any further in the cup.
Already low in numbers and with a few boys unable to play, Tenby were hit with an early blow when regular ’keeper Kyle came off after only a few minutes with a heel injury. Replacing him in goal was Ethan, who took on the challenge wholeheartedly.
However, despite valiant efforts, Clarbeston Road took their chances and Tenby saw themselves 1-0 behind. It’s not the first time they have gone behind in the early stages of a game, but after settling down, some lovely balls were fed through the midfield to the attack and Morgan levelled the score at 1-1. And that’s how it remained throughout the first half.
Soon into the second half, however, two further goals from Max followed from strong attacking play and gave the Tenby team some breathing space.
Not for long, though, with Clarbeston Road bringing the score back to 3-2.
With the ball end to end, it was too close to call. Tenby then took advantage of their possession and after a lovely ball through from Jack, Morgan was able to increase the lead to 4-2.
In the last few minutes of play, Clarbeston Road fumbled in defence and an own goal took the final score to 5-2 to Tenby.
A great game to watch and played in great spirit. Well done boys, semi-finals here we come.
Team: Kyle, Ethan, Jac, Leon, TJ, Taine, Corey, Jack, Iori, Morgan, Max, Dylan and Lewis.

An exciting end to the game against Monkton saw Tenby come out on top 2-1.
Monkton took an early lead in a frantic first 15 minutes in which they looked threatening in every attack.
Once Tenby settled and started stretching the game, they created chances for themselves, with Louie, Charly and Alfie all going close.
However, it was Charly who got the equaliser, powering the ball past the ’keeper at his near post.
With Jack making some great saves, it was left for Alfie to launch a rocket straight into the top corner with three minutes to go, a shot which nearly broke the goal and sent the crowd wild.
