As the season draws to a close, with only one more league game left to play and the important cup final ahead this Saturday, the boys were eager to get some good football played in preparation.
Their opponents were Haverfordwest Cricket Club on home turf.
Within minutes of the kick-off, Tenby played the ball around, spreading it wide to the wingers, which soon led to the first goal from Toby.
Two more followed from Iori after some creative play, accurate passing and solid defence.
Haverfordwest made their own chances, but Kyle, strong in goal, made some excellent saves.
Tenby kept up the pressure and Archie soon found the back of the net to add to the score.
Haverfordwest had a break and were able to nip one past the ’keeper, but another from Iori and one more from Max completed the first half 6-1.
The second half saw the Tenby defence once again solid, not allowing any space for the opponents. Four more goals in the second half, two from Max, another for Toby and one for Cas, made the final score 10-1.
Some astonishing milestones were achieved in this game, with Max James reaching his 100th goal of the season, Iori reaching his 50th and Dylan also reaching his 50th the week before.
Best wishes also go to defender Leon who that same afternoon fell and broke his wrist which required surgery - wishing you a speedy recovery Leon.
Team: Kyle, Leon, Ethan, Corey, Toby, Cas, Iori, Dylan, Archie and Max.
Cup final tomorrow (Saturday) versus St. Clears at Milford, 11 am kick-off.
Under 14s
Having already secured the league title, theSeasiders were keen to do the double and faced a very strong Hakin United at Monkton Swifts.
A tough first half saw some good stuff from both teams, with Dylan Morgan and Archie trying to break down the Hakin defence on the wings and Jack Jones pushed and probed, but the defence was standing strong.
Iori Humphries, Ned Davies and Callum Karaka were having a busy time. Callum, pushing on, witnessed a rising shot just go over the bar, but no one could get the first goal.
Charlie Phillips tried to make something happen, but Hakin just kept closing the door.
At the half-time whistle, both teams had to settle for nil-nil.
The second half saw no changes made by Dewi and Phil and it was to be pretty much the status quo, with Joe Evans putting everything into getting beyond the Hakin defence and Rhys Mansell, in goal, being tested and standing strong from direct play and set pieces.
The Tenby nerves were getting a bit stretched and by that I mean the supporters, parents and coaches. The players stayed positive and kept asking questions of Hakin.
Then as the saying goes, ‘Cometh the hour, cometh the man’ and that man was Charlie Gregory, who hit a beautiful volley that left the ’keeper with no chance.
Nerves slightly settled, but Hakin don’t give up. Teejay Gardner was being his usual busy self, but again the defence was too strong, that is until the rocket, Dylan Morgan, got on the ball and provided a lovely pass through for Archie to get number two.
The game was now starting to fall in favour of the Seasiders and the tackles were becoming a little more desperate from the Hakin defence and resulted in a penalty, which Charlie Gregory neatly converted.
Three-nil up and to be honest it was looking like a certain Tenby victory, so just to seal a great performance, Archie finished the game off with an equally excellent volley to match the one of Charlie’s. Goal of the day vote would be required for two superb finishes.
So all in all, a great season, taking the double. Not dropping any points up to now and going far in the West Wales Cup. The team is pictured after the fine performance in the cup.
