A massive thank you to Mathew Broadhurst and Tenby Round Table for sponsoring the lovely new kit for Tenby AFC Under 7s Bs (pictured). The kids absolutely love it and hopefully it will bring them some good luck going forward!

In fact, they gave an outstanding performance on a very foggy and cold Saturday morning, with St. Clears the visitors.

The game was very close to begin with, with some great football shown by both sides, some great passing and some outstanding goals. It was locked at 3-3, before St. Clears pulled ahead in the last quarter to win 5-3.

Well done to St. Clears and Tenby for a brilliant team performance.

A special mention to Alfie P. who was last week’s man of the match and Bobby F-T for getting this week’s man of the match.

Tenby Under 9s

On Grand National day, Tenby entertained Hakin, with the early morning mist as the backdrop and the ground being ruled ‘good to soft.’

Tenby had a few late starters, with the coaches believing that Louis Rapi was going to be a non-runner. Louis had a problem with his hooves, but dedication from his paddock staff and two trips back to the stables in Sageston to get his boots meant he was declared fit to go at the threequarters mark!

After starters orders, the away team got into their stride from the off. Hakin, playing in their black and blue silks, passed the ball around the park, taking a 2-0 lead at the first interval.

The home side regrouped, had a trough of water and discussed race strategy again. In the second period, Tenby’s little jockeys, playing in opposing red and black silks, got into their gallop, trotting up the pitch and pressing the visitors. The pressure finally told, with Evan opening the home side’s account after really good passing!

Hakin came into the game on a good run of form, with their passing and use of space a clear advantage to all in the grandstand. Hakin restored their two-goal lead before half-time, going into the break at 3-1.

After the break, the visitors were big and strong stallions, with Tenby having to match their efforts in physicality. Tenby’s Tyler pulled up a couple of times, having an ankle and head injury, but this thoroughbred was determined to last the distance, which he duly did.

Good play from both sides produced chances at either end, with George getting his nose on the tote scorecard for the home side after Hakin had gone further afield! Hakin then added another before the threequarters mark. Sam and George from the Seasiders provided good running out wide close to the rails.

The final quarter brought Louis in from the paddock with a fresh pair of legs. Dylan and Evan in central field, amongst the pack, showed great stamina, strength and determination not be knocked off course.

Hakin scored again, before a great corner from Tenby’s George flew straight into the back of the net via a deflection. George looked the referee in the eye, saying ‘it was going in,’ with the dubious goals panel awarding the goal to the deadly forward!

Final score was 6-3 to Hakin. Good to play again within a high class field, as I am sure jockeys and trainers will have learnt a lot!

Man of the match went to Bailey, as this energetic nine-year-old always lasts the distance. Bailey got in lots of great challenges, and passed the ball well to teammates. Well done Bailey, another great game!

Team: Jesse Craig, Tyler Simpson, Louis Rapi, Thomas Strong, Lucas Rhys-Davies, Sam Hughes, Bailey Joyce, Dylan Sine, Evan Coleman, Ethan Lewis, George Morgan.

UNDER 12s

With yet more league games rearranged, it’s been another busy week for the Under 12s.

After their defeat to Prendergast the previous Saturday, the boys were keen to get back to winning ways. Monday evening saw them play away to Kilgetty. The first half saw the boys passing well between each other and it wasn’t long before the first goal came from Iori.

Despite the defensive efforts from Kilgetty, Tenby were able to keep the attacks flowing and more goals from Max and Iori soon followed. At half time the score was 6-0.

The second half saw much of the same. An excellent corner from Cas hit the back of the net and more from Iori and Toby followed.

In the last play of the game, Kilgetty were camped in the Tenby half, desperate to claw a goal back; even the goalkeeper, who had made some excellent saves throughout the game, took his chance to come up and help. With an interception from the Tenby defence, Max ran the length of the field with a open goal in front of him. Let’s just say the score stayed the same and finished at 10-0. A lovely game played in great spirits.

Thursday night saw the boys return the Kilgetty fixture at the Clicketts. Once again Tenby were keen to keep the pressure on, the first two goals coming in quick succession from Dylan. More goals followed and at half-time the score was 9-0.

The second half saw Kilgetty defiant and, playing to their strengths, they were able to keep the score down.

Two more from Tenby, an own goal from Kilgetty and then a super team effort saw them hit the back of the net to make fnal score 12-1.

Another game followed on Saturday, with an away trip to Fishguard. It wasn’t a pretty game and, despite chances, Tenby found it difficult to score. After what seemed an eternity, Cas created the first goal from a corner. Two more in the first half from Iori and a goal from Fishguard left the half-time score 3-1.

The second half saw very defensive play from the home side, not allowing Tenby any space on a small pitch. One more sneaked in from Lewis, followed soon after by one Fishguard.

Final score 4-2, not pretty, but three points in the bag.

Team: Kyle, Jack, Leon, Ethan, Iori, George, Cas, Morgan, Max, Dylan, Toby, Archie, Corey and Lewis.

Another three games this week, catching up with fixtures postponed due to the bad weather.

UNDER 14s

Having been set back due to the weather, the Seasiders played two games in three days. First up was away to Camrose and for a change a dry day and pitch.

The homesters could only manage 10 men, so the coaches for Tenby decided to be sporting and field the same.

Initially, it turned out to benefit the home team and soon they got the lead, although it did have something to do with some very sloppy play from the Seasiders and soon Dewi, rightly so, let them know and made changes.

Jack Jones soon levelled the score and indeed turned provider for Archie Smith to put Tenby ahead. There was a pattern developing as Archie then turned provider for Dylan Morgan for number three! Soon after its was Dylan who supplied Archie for number four.

The second half stayed a bit stale, with the lads going off the boil, but nonetheless secured the win courtesy of another two and his hat-trick for the day for the excellent Jack Jones.

On Monday night, the lads faced Neyland United at The Clicketts and a victory would push them ever closer to winning the league.

From the start this was more the performance expected from such a great footballing team and the coaches got more of what they expect.

An early start saw Archie Smith providing the pacy Dylan Morgan for the first, no surprise there, and the second soon followed by yet again Jack Jones.

But hang on a minute, what’s happening here? Is your roving reporter seeing things? No it’s the ever-dependable defender Callum Karaka going on a run to bag number three, and well-deserved it was.

In honesty, there weren’t many of the boys who didn’t have a pop, including Charlie Phillips and Kurt Saronandia.

Soon number four arrived courtesy of the lefty Archie (take ’em on) Smith.

The second half was pretty much a repeat, with the usual suspects trying to get on the scoresheet! Unlucky Ned Davies!

Archie then provided Charlie Gregory for number five and the tenacious Will Malone popped up with a mazy run for number six.

Great play and lovely football continued and Finnan Arthur was putting in a decent shift, before the busy Jake Allen struck a beautiful shot from outside the box which have the ’keeper no chance.

Teejay Gardner was his usual nuisance, but it was not to be his day for scoring, but he provided a superb ball for Archie’s brace for the day and number eight. Iori Humpries huffed and puffed, but couldn’t get the ball in the old onion bag, but it not for the want of trying, and it was Jack Jones who was to have the last word again with his brace for the day and number nine.

All in all, a decent couple of days. Well done lads.
