St Clears Under 13’s 0 Tenby Under 13’s 9

Last Saturday Tenby travelled to play St. Clears with squad numbers being severely depleted.

The visitors tried to get their passing game going from the opening moments, getting the ball into wide areas to penetrate ‘the Saints’. The game plan worked, with Will Hilling in the old fashioned wide right position, crossing the ball into the box for Evan to put the visitors one up.

Ryan was having a good game in an unfamiliar right full back role, linking particularly well with Will ahead of him. The clock was ticking with no one adding the scoreboard, and when you are one nil up, the game is always in the balance.

St. Clears were trying to put pressure on Tenby, a kick up field towards the visitors keeper led to a slightly uncomfortable moment for Will Diment in goal.

‘The Seasiders’ added a well deserved second ten minutes before half time, when Ryan gave the assist for Ethan Wright to open his account for the day. Tenby added a third just before half time, when a corner was met by Thomas and deflected back on target by ‘the Saints’ for an own goal.

At the interval both teams had a good team talk, with the visitors emphasising getting balls in behind the opponents back line, and whipping crosses in to the deadly duo, namely Evan and Ethan Wright.

Will Hilling, wide right for Tenby was creating havoc for his opponent, as time and time again utilising the space in behind the defender. The fourth, sixth and seventh goals were all delivered on a plate for the hungry Evan to nonchalantly roll the ball into the back of the net.

An injury to Nick John of ‘the Saints’ didn’t help the home sides cause, as he is a real classy playmaker in the middle of the park.

Tenby’s Logan coming back from a foot injury was having a good game in midfield, a player who likes to get stuck in and a powerful left foot. Logan set up Tenby’s fifth for Ethan Wright to get his brace for the day.

The goal of the day came from ‘the Seasiders’ visionary Ryan, who caressed a fifty yard right to left ball, Eli controlled well who passed to Rudi on the edge of the eighteen yard box. Rudi, then hit the ball first time with his precision engineered left peg, connecting with the ball better than the onlooking Mike Ryder’s German ‘vorsh sprung technik’ car to fly above the helpless keeper.

The final goal of the day came from Tenby’s Logan, scoring a goal directly from his great free kick.

‘The Seasiders’ coaches were especially pleased with the overall team performance. Man of the match went to Evan who scored four on the day, but must thank his teammates for the wonderful service provided.

The Tenby coaches hope that all the boys who didn’t play make speedy recoveries, and add to the nice selection headaches.

Tenby fielded: Will Diment, Ryan, Thomas, George McDonald, Eli, Will Hilling, George Morgan, Logan, Rudi, Evan, Ethan Wright.
