Angle caused a shock among the football fraternity of Pembrokeshire over the weekend after they held title hopefuls West Dragons to a draw at home.
The hosts may only be a few places below the visitors in the league table, but the form book would have been with the away side as they are among the title chasing pack.
In a display of utter commitment and bravery, the home side ensured a share of the spoils after a brace of goals by Craig Turner earned a 2-2 draw.
Carew’s Jordan Richards was called up to the county squad to face Swansea in the inter-league cup competition and he celebrated it by scoring a goal for the Rooks in their 4-2 win over battling Neyland. Scott Ferney’s brace was the highlight of the show as the hosts dominated from start to finish, with Iwan Izzard nipping in to secure the final score in a fabulous display by the home team.
Johnston, once the power house of local football, are now languishing in the doldrums of division one, not that Lamphey cared much for that as the Stags hammered the Tigers 6-0. Billy Davies’s hat-trick was the highlight in the performance, with the other goals coming from Josh Dearsley, Dan Kitts and Mickey Davies.
Narberth were at Milford United and they came away with a draw following a 2-2 result at Marble Hall. Dafydd Wright and Dylan Davies scored for the visitors.
Tenby, meanwhile, hosted Goodwick United and fine hosts they were, too, as they allowed the Phoenix outfit to end up 3-0 winners at the Clicketts.
In division two, Lawrenny drew 2-2 at home with Solva after goals by Dean Morris and Matt Lewis, while a brace of goals by the excellent Joe Buckle wasn’t enough to help Hundleton over the line at Prendergast Villa as they went down 4-2.
Saundersfoot Sports went down, too, losing 3-0 at home to Fishguard Sports, while St. Clears won by that margin at home to St. Ishmaels after goals by Dan Potter and two from Jon Thomas.
Pennar Robins’ seconds went down 6-1 at Broad Haven, while Narberth seconds lost 2-0 at Camrose.
Grant James scored against former club Kilgetty, but his goal for Carew seconds was their only highlight as Kilgetty won 2-1 thanks to a Tom Baker brace.
Manorbier United had a good result, too, after winning 5-0 at home to Milford Athletic. Mike Ryder scored twice, with the others coming from Joe Mckeown, Jack Richards and Paul Maytum.
A good result for Pendine, too, in what turned out to be an excellent game, with the Gulls ending up 6-4 winners. Callum O’Connell scored three for the home team and Steve Thomas twice, with the other goal coming from Kieran Lewis.
It was the second round of the fourth division cup over the weekend and Lamphey seconds prevailed in their clash against near neighbour Pembroke Boro. The Stags won 5-1, with Jason Evans scoring the first, followed by goals from Andy Evans, Jamie Aries, Richard Williams and an own goal.
St Florence are through, too, after beating Prendergast Villa seconds 5-0. Ashley Smith was the undoubted man of the match for the Saints as he finished with four of them, while Lewis Deforges nipped in for the other.
Two goals from Marcus Player and one from Carl White was enough for Pendine seconds to win 3-2 at Hubberston, while in league action, Angle seconds lost 9-0 at West Dragons’ reserves.
It was derby day in division five as Hundleton seconds hosted Monkton Swifts’ seconds and the away side went home with the points following a 9-1 rout. Billy Abraham scored for Hundleton, while Paul Lacey and Luke Hendry scored for the Swifts, with Wayne Boswell and Jordan Kilby finishing with a brace each and Liam Butland three in the one-sided victory.
An Ollie Gamble brace was the highlight for Kilgetty seconds in their 6-2 loss at home to Broad Haven seconds, but it was better news for Lawrenny seconds as they beat Milford Athletic reserves 4-2. Simon Cole scored twice, with Brad Jenkins and Kyle Bradbury scoring one each.
Finally, Pembroke Boro seconds prevailed 2-1 at home over Carew seconds as Jamie Wallace and Sean Edmundson scored for the home team.
