Narberth went down to their sixth defeat of the season on Saturday following a 4-0 hammering at Monkton Swifts.
It’s an all or nothing season for the Bluebirds thus far, with superb performances one week, overshadowed by mediocrity the next. If they are consistent about one thing, it’s their inconsistency.
Saturday was no exception as the Swifts soared, while the Bluebirds sunk like a stone, with an own goal the final insult for the visitors that beefed up the scoreline for the hosts.
Martin Carroll got the first for the home team, followed by Ryan Griffiths and Jason Finnegan.
Scott Ferney was on target for Carew in their home clash against Merlins Bridge, yet his effort couldn’t prevent the Rooks from going down 2-1 against one of the county’s form teams.
To be fair to Carew, they produced a fine display that troubled the Wizards, but eventually experience and that little bit extra told for the visitors.
It was derby day at Lamphey and both the Stags and Angle dished up a delight for those watching from the sidelines.
The game ended 3-3, which was a just result given both teams’ attacking intent in the Bush Inn, Pembroke Dock sponsored clash.
Billy Davies got the ball rolling for Lamphey with a penalty, before Josh Dearsley and Nathan Ferrier scored, while Angle’s goals came from Jake Seaton and Darren Mason, with Seaton finishing with a brace.
The game between Tenby and Pennar Robins also finished all-square, with the game tied 1-1.
Nathan Patterson scored for the hosts, while Andre Cook slipped in for the Robins’ goal.
Another defeat for St. Clears ensured they remain second from bottom in division two after Saundersfoot Sports beat them handsomely at home.
The Sports won 5-0 after Jack Franklin scored twice. Further goals by Richard Cope, Ewan Laidlaw and Geoff Marsh compounded the Saints’ misery.
A Dean Morris goal helped Lawrenny settle for a 1-1 draw at home against St. Ishmaels, while in division three, Kilgetty’s happy season continued with a 4-1 win at home against Camrose.
Mike Beynon got the ball rolling for his team, before Josh Bevan, Mike Scale and Henry Lawrence all scored to complete their third win of the season.
Narberth seconds won, too, although their game against Clarbeston Road was a close one.
The Bluebirds’ second string eventually prevailed 3-2 after goals from Jack Pallas, Josh Layzell and Will Dunlop.
Not such a good day for Pendine, though, as they slipped to a 3-1 defeat at Pennar Robins’ seconds; Paul Sly with two and Geraint Blair the men to score for the hosts.
Biggest win of the division went to Manorbier United who eased to a 9-0 win over struggling Johnston.
Jake Webster led the way with three, while Mike Ryder narrowly missed out on that landmark by scoring two.
Other goals came from Joe McKeown, Marley Paxton, Will Cowan and Mike Brown.
Meanwhile, Carew seconds had a narrow defeat at Milford Athletic, losing 2-1, with Jacob Knox slipping in for the Rooks’ goal.
In the first round of the division four cup, St. Clears’ seconds lost 6-0 at home against St. Ishmael’s seconds, while Angle seconds fared just as badly at home to Pembroke Boro, losing 5-0 in their GD Harries sponsored clash.
Jake Campbell finished with two goals, before Carl Morris, Phil John and Jordan Wright nipped in for theirs.
St. Florence progressed easily into the next round after securing a tremendous 8-1 win over Solva seconds.
Lewis Deforges led the way with five goals and Ashley Smith scored twice, before Colin Batley scored their last.
Lamphey seconds beat West Dragons 4-3.
In division five, Kilgetty seconds hammered their counterparts from Camrose 7-2.
Duanne Rossiter led the way with a brace, with the other goals coming from Carl Thomas, Jimmy Bridges, Billy Lawrence, Josh Lewis and Andrew Evans.
It was a bad day at the office for Carew thirds after they lost 8-0 at home against Monkton Swifts, while goals from Connor Hay and Jack Blunsden couldn’t prevent Hundleton seconds from losing 6-2 at home against Letterston seconds.
Lawrenny seconds lost 3-1 away at Milford United thirds, but there was better news for Pembroke Boro seconds after a 4-0 win at home over Milford Athletic seconds.
George Macbeth scored twice for the hosts, while Sean Edmondson and Steffan Sandford grabbed the others.
