The first round of the West Wales Intermediate Cup got underway on Saturday with Pendine being one of the first teams to go out after a 3-2 defeat at home to Blaen-y-Maes.
St. Clears, however, are through to round two after goals by Steve Thomas and James Dixon helped them to a 2-1 win over Caerbryn at home.
For the second week in succession, Lamphey bombed out of the first round of cup competitions as Mountain Dew beat the Stags 5-2. Adam John and Sam Southcott managed goals for the hosts, but the visitors had a little too much for the home side on the day.
Part of the charm for Pembrokeshire sides in the West Wales Cup is the chance to travel away to clubs with strange names in the Neath and Swansea area and have a night out, but there was no such luxury for Tenby as they entertained Angle in an all-Pembrokeshire affair. The Seasiders ran out comfortable winners against their familiar opponents as Joe Leahy struck three and Jordan Richards two in the 7-2 win. Their other goals came from Sam Christopher and Darryl Mansbridge. For Angle, their goals were scored by Ben Green and Tom Powell.
Saundersfoot Sports managed a 3-2 win after extra-time against Treboeth United, while Carew mustered a fine 4-2 win away at Wales Tartain.
Narberth were in league action and secured a fortuitous win over Johnston at home as two own goals contributed to their 2-1 win.
A goal by Dylan Davies and one by Jack Blunsden was not enough for Hundleton to overcome Clarbeston Road as the hosts won 3-2, while it was better news for Lawrenny as they won 3-1 at Goodwick United.
In division three, Kilgetty secured a good win at Carew seconds, winning 3-1 thanks to goals by Jack Bevan, Liam Marklew and Josh Lewis. Ashley Smith scored Carew’s solitary goal, while Narberth seconds had an even better win at Herbrandston seconds after cruising to an 8-0 victory.
It was all square at Cosheston Cougars as they were held to a 3-3 draw against Clarbeston Road. Luke Hendry scored the opener for the home team before Wayne Boswell and Carl Rees both got in on the act.
Meanwhile, in the game between Saundersfoot Sports’ seconds and Pennar Robins’ seconds, the Robins prevailed 4-0.
St Clears’ seconds came away from the long trip west to Angle seconds with a 3-0 defeat to their name, while Narberth thirds won 6-2 at Carew thirds.
For Angle, the goals were scored by Connor Willis, Luke Wickland and Chris Owen in a match sponsored by Mike Hughes.
The game between St. Florence and Letterston seconds was postponed, while in the derby at Bush Camp between Pennar Robins’ thirds and Pembroke Boro, the visitors won 2-1 after goals from Jamie Byrne and Josh Sture while Marco Valentine scored for the hosts in this all White Laundrette sponsored clash.
It was a good day too for Kilgetty seconds after they beat Llangwm seconds 2-1 thanks to goal by Chris Morgan and Richard Gwyther, but despite Ryan Pearce’s goal for Pendine, the Seagulls’ second string went down 9-1 away at Lawrenny reserves. The home goals came from Mathew Kidney, Kai Bradbury and Jodie Clewes as James Phillips and Ben Mosquita both finished with hat-tricks.
Hundleton seconds beat Cosheston Cougars 10-4, while Tenby seconds lost 5-3 against Monkton Seconds as Liam Finnegan scored twice, before Dan Nolan, Connor Roberts and Jadey Hearne all scored.
Meanwhile, at Pembroke Boro seconds, Jason Evans scored twice and Matthew Smith and Adam Tuner once in their 4-3 win over Camrose seconds.
