After a couple of windy weeks, Sunday saw a much lighter affair for the rescheduled race and this was obviously to the liking of Paul and Julia in the RS200 who crossed the fleet at the start with their gennaker up and led all the way round to take their third win in the frostbite series.

The race team of Mick, Judy and Andy set an Outfall Amroth Pendine Harbour figure of eight course which gave three gennaker legs for the RS 200, and the fleet of six set off in a gentle breeze, with Paul and Julia in the RS 200 and Simon in his Contender in front, while behind the fleet of four Lasers were having a right old battle under the watchful eye of Steve and Harry, plus Tom and Terry on the ever-alert safety boats. The wind and daylight seemed to be fading and Mick and his team made the sensible and much appreciated decision to shorten course to get us all safely back in without needing torches.

After last week’s races being dominated by the youngsters, this week, experience came through with Paul and Julia coming in first ahead of Simon and the first youngster home was Ben in his Laser in third place, but with all of the Lasers finishing in close order.

Thanks to all of those on duty for a very professional job in difficult conditions.

Next weekend, we have the last two races of the frostbite series. A quick glance at the score would suggest that the light wind demons in the RS 200 are leading the way at the moment, just ahead of Simon, and with several others just behind him, but with more wind forecast for next weekend that could all change so it promises to be an interesting finale to what has been another successful season both on and off the water.

Away from the sailing, the rowers are continuing to make use of the clubhouse for their winter training and even managing to get out on the water as well at times.

Just another quick reminder that the club is holding its annual general meeting in the clubhouse next Saturday morning at 11 am so please come along and support that if you can.
