The idea of midweek football matches is to complete fixtures decimated by the weather. Ironic then, that during the first week of catch-up matches some games are postponed.
Who would want to be a fixture secretary then? It’s a thankless task. Not only can clubs be unhappy with what is given to them, the weather can play havoc, too, not that Carew will mind these fixtures; they beat Angle 6-0.
This came after Saturday’s 7-0 win over relegation threatened Herbrandston, not a bad return of goals after the heartbreak of losing two semi-finals on the Meadow.
The goals were shared against Angle, with Scott Fearney, Jack and Sam Christopher, Jordan Richards, Iwan Izzard and Zak Rowell getting on the scoresheet.
Lamphey entertained Pennar and settled for a 2-2 draw, with the Stags’ goals coming from Jason Edwards and Billy Davies, while Sam Soutcott grabbed both for the Robins.
Monkton Swifts travelled to Milford United and beat the Robins 3-2 after goals by Matthew Davies, Ryan Griffiths and Sean Jones, while in division four, the game between Kilgetty seconds and their counterparts from St. Clears was postponed.
In division five, Hundleton seconds beat Pembroke Boro seconds 7-0 after four goals by Connor Hay and three by Sam Blunsden, with Saundersfoot Sports’ seconds beating Lawrenny seconds 4-1.
On Monday, Kilgetty may have given away home advantage to Lawrenny, but that didn’t prevent them winning 3-0.
The goals were shared between Jordan Gorman, Josh Bevan and Ryan Rowland.
St. Clears went down 2-1 at Saundersfoot Sports and defeat for Pendine, too, losing 4-0 at Carew seconds after goals by James Adie, Harvey Langstone, Tom Arthur and Haydn Shapcott.
Narberth seconds went down 2-0 at Clarbeston Road, with St. Florence beating Pembroke Boro 1-0.
Monkton Swifts had the biggest win of the night, winning 13-1 at home against Angle.
Meanwhile, on Saturday, there were wins for Carew over Herbrandston, Goodwick over Pennar and Hakin over Narberth.
Lamphey lost 3-2 at home against West Dragons and Monkton lost 3-1 at home against Clarbeston Road.
In division two, Hundleton lost 8-1 at home against Hakin United seconds, with St. Clears drawing 2-2 with Johnston.
Kilgetty beat Solva 4-1 and Saundersfoot beat Lawrenny 7-2.
There was a great game in division three as Manorbier United and Pembroke Boro played out a 4-4 draw, while Pembroke Boro put four past Narberth seconds who could only score one in return.
Pendine drew 1-1 with Milford Athletic, while Carew seconds lost 2-1 at Pennar Robins.
In the second round of the fourth division cup, St. Clears’ seconds beat Broad Haven seconds 3-2, while the biggest win of the day went to Kilgetty seconds who best Angle seconds 18-2.
Pennar Robins’ thirds drew 1-1 with Llangwm, while Monkton Swifts’ seconds beat Solva 8-1.
In the second round of the fifth division cup, Lawrenny seconds beat Milford Athletic seconds 2-1.
Back to the league and Carew thirds beat Letterston seconds 5-1, with Pembroke Boro seconds losing 3-0 at Milford United thirds.
Finally, Saundersfoot seconds beat Hundleton seconds 3-0.
