It may not have been a full programme of football, but at least there was some play on the fields of Pembrokeshire last weekend as the rain relented and pitches dried out enough for some games to take place.

The Manderwood Pembrokeshire Amateur Football League has some catching up to do before the season finishes in April with some clubs playing catch up more than others.

Saundersfoot Sports have only played nine games this season, St. Florence too, while Hakin United have only played eight league fixtures.

Last Saturday, Monkton travelled to Goodwick to take on the high flying home side and they came away from Phoenix Park having secured a memorable win.

The Swifts soared high to come away with the points winning 3-2 despite having Shaun Jones sent off.

James Russell opened the scoring for the away side before the hosts equalised, but then Luke Hendry put them ahead just before half-time.

Patrick MacDonnagh then increased the lead before the hosts hit back, however the visitors held on to secure a famous win against the county’s in-form side.

Lamphey, who have played more games than most this year entertained Herbrandston but failed to make home advantage count as the visitors prevailed winning 4-2.

Billy Davies scored both for the hosts.

At Jesse Road, Narberth came out on top against Pennar Robins after securing a comfortable 6-1 win.

Tony Evans and Jordan Williams scored twice for the victors, while Chris Brown and Dafydd Wright netted one apiece.

Carew’s game at West Dragons was postponed.

In the first round of the second division cup, Saundersfoot Sports bombed out at Hakin United seconds while in the second round of the competition, St. Clears beat Merlins Bridge seconds 6-2 thanks to a brace apiece by Steve Thomas and Sean Seymour-Davies, an own goal and one from Nathan Evans.

Lawrenny travelled to Prendergast Villa and despite goals from Owen James and Brad McDermott-Jenkins, they lost 3-2.

In league action, Kilgetty’s game against Llangwm was postponed with Hundleton going down 3-1 at St. Ishmaels despite a Dylan Davies goal.

In division three, goals from Jacob Knox and Harvey Langston helped Carew seconds to a 2-1 win at home against Narberth seconds whose goal came from Morgan James, while Manorbier United beat Clarbeston Road seconds 3-1 after goals from Jay Kennedy, Paul Maytum and Jake Webster.

St. Florence meanwhile beat Milford United seconds 3-1.

Pendine v Pembroke Boro was postponed, while Pennar Robins’ seconds’ came out on top 3-2 against Milford Athletic securing the win in the 87th minute of the game

In division four, Ben Phillips and Andy Evans both scored hattricks for Lamphey seconds in their 7-1 win over Angle seconds with Steffan Stanford adding the other.

Tom Grimwood hit the back of the net for Angle.

Kilgetty seconds went down 5-4 at Herbrandston seconds, while Pennar thirds beat Llangwm seconds 3-2.

Biggest win of the day went to Monkton Swifts after they secured a 12-5 victory over Neyland seconds, while in division five, Hundleton seconds lost 2-0 at Carew thirds with their goals coming from Ceri Brace and Sean Whitfield.

Lawrenny seconds’ game at Milford Athletic was postponed, while a Dalton Boswell goal was enough to give Cosheston a win at Pembroke Boro seconds.
