Grassroots hero, Trevor Morgans is counting on votes from Pembrokshire to stand a chance of being named winner of the prestigious People’s Award in the 2016 Welsh Community Awards, presented by McDonald’s. Trevor has already been crowned West Wales FA Volunteer of the Year and is now up against five other nominees in the public vote.
The fifth annual Welsh People’s Award gives the public the chance to vote for who they think should win the prestigious award and Trevor is hoping for all residents from Pembrokeshire to vote for him at http://welshfootballtrust.org.uk/PeoplesAwards2016
Over a long spanning career, Trevor Morgans has left his stamp on grassroots football in Pembrokeshire. Having started playing in 1970 for Johnston AFC, Trevor has taken over a huge amount of responsibility for Haverfordwest Cricket Club AFC by acting as their Junior Chairman as well as with the Pembrokeshire Association Football League (PAFL).
Trevor took up the role of Safeguarding Office with the PAFL in 2008 and also added Club Accreditation Officer to his responsibilities. Both roles require a vast number of hours and a lot of dedication, which Trevor has an abundance of. The PAFL are incredibly grateful to Trevor’s enthusiasm for the game and couldn’t imagine a league without him.
McDonald’s Head of Welsh Football, Ryan Giggs said: “I am always amazed at the achievements of hundreds of nominees for the Welsh Community Awards, presented by McDonald’s. It’s their dedication and enthusiasm for the game that shines through year after year and we owe them a debt of gratitude. I would urge all of you to take a couple minutes out of your day to vote for your champion and crown someone truly deserving of the 2016 People’s Award.”
Voting for the People’s Award is open now and closes on 4th September with the national winner being honoured at the 2016 FAW and McDonald’s Community Awards National Ceremony on Friday 9th September at the Cardiff City Stadium.
