Kilgetty AFC Women took 3 points against a resilient Camrose Ladies FC team at the Pembrokeshire Sports Village on Sunday, thanks to a hat-trick from Alex Young and 2 goals from Sam Richards. Kilgetty were frustrated for the majority of the first half by the strong-willed defence and Camrose goalkeeper at the match on March 18, 2024. Camrose counter attacked quickly several times throughout the game, but the Kilgetty defence held firm. Alex Young rattled the crossbar with a header from a well delivered Sam Richards corner with 30 minutes on the clock and it looked like proceedings were going to head into the second half on equal footing. However, Alex Young broke the deadlock 40 minutes into the first half, scoring again 5 minutes later to send Kilgetty AFC Women into half time with a 2-0 lead. Alex would score again in the 62nd minute with a well placed shot into the top right hand corner to complete her hat-trick. Sam Richards  bagged a couple of goals before play finished; once from open play and once with a well placed free-kick. Richards nearly finished with a hat-trick herself after she hit the crossbar late in the game. "Massive well done to our ladies today and thank you to Camrose Ladies & Girls FC who played with a fantastic attitude towards the spirit of the game." Shared Kilgetty AFC Coach Matt Davies. After the match Camrose approached Kilgetty thanking the team for the game and a combined team photo was taken featuring the Football v Homophobia Football. This marks Kilgetty AFC Women’s support of FvH Grassroots, an initiative to tackle LGBTQI+ discrimination in football throughout February, the Football v Homophobia Month of Action. Kilgetty Women strongly believe football is for EVEYONE! #FvH2024 FULL-TIME RESULT: Kilgetty 5 - 0 Camrose
