Another sparkling innings by the in-form Iwan Izzard helped Cresselly keep the pressure on leaders Carew following a winning draw against Pembroke.

The hosts finished 126 runs adrift against the second placed team after Izzard’s 111 and Phil Williams’ 80 not out. Alex Bailey joined in the run fest scoring an unbeaten 50 as Cresselly racked up 248-2.

In reply, Pembroke lost seven wickets in the chase as Tom Arthur took 4-38.

Phil Hay scored an unbeaten 79 for the home team as they finished on 122-7.

Leaders Carew gained a workmanlike win over St Ishmaels after the hosts were skittled out for 110 in reply to the Rooks’ 152-9.

Tim Hicks scored 55 for Carew and Tom Davies 24 not out. He also took 4-34 in the reply with Shaun Whitfield taking 4-28.

Lawrenny caused the shock of the day after beating Haverfordwest at the Racecourse.

The Town folded to be bowled out for 106 in reply to Lawrenny’s 124 all out.

Brad McDermott Jenkins had a day to remember for the visitors taking 5-34 and scoring 22 in their innings.

The win helped put some distance between them and second from bottom Johnston.

A win too for Whitland who piled the pressure on Kilgetty who just can’t seem to find any form.

Whitland scored 206-6 in their innings thanks to Wayne Howell’s 75 and Jonathan Thomas’ 48 not out while in reply Matthew Davies took 5-38 as Kilgetty were all out 70 runs short.

They were bowled out for 136. Only Kurtis Marsh with 52 got to grips with the away team’s bowling.

In division two, Whitland seconds lost a high scoring game at home to Burton.

The Borderers batted first and reached 195-7 thanks to contributions from Nathan Evans who scored 51 and Paul Davies who caressed 43.

In reply, Greg Sleep took 3-58 and Gethin Benjamin 2-46 yet the visitors crept home by three wickets.

Carew seconds gained a comprehensive win over their counterparts from Haverfordwest.

Carew scored 243-2 with Robbie Hicks hitting a brilliant 91 and Haydn Shapcott 71 not out. Haverfordwest were then bombed out for 118 as Jacob Knox took 5-7.

Bottom club Stackpole endured another tough day at the office after being bowled out for 90 in reply to Llanrhian’s 193-4.

Only Simon Bevan with 23 and 2-21 had anything to smile about in a disappointing display.

Llechryd gained ground on second placed Narberth with a two-wicket win at home.

Narberth were all out for 151 with Llechryd passing it for the loss of eight wickets.

For Narberth, Kyle Quartermaine scored 30 while Louis Davies scored 27 and took 2-25. Owen Richards took 2-24.

Defeat for Saundersfoot too after they lost at table toppers Llangwm.

Saundersfoot scored 111 all out with Llangwm losing four wickets in passing the total.

Sam Franklin scored 39 for the foot while John Mansbridge scored 32.

Playing at home proved to be unlucky for all teams in division three as they all lost, the biggest shock being at Cresselly where the second team lost to Herbrandston.

Cresselly scored 222-5 after Neal Williams scored 69 and Rhydian Rees 56. Steffan Jenkins then took 2-52 but the visitors muscled their way to a winning total of 113-5.

Lamphey lost ground on the leading pack by losing to table toppers Hook.

Lamphey recovered from being 25-4 thanks to Scott Brunton’s 64 and David Blackwell’s 36 not out to reach 154-8.

The Stags then dropped eight catches to let Hook off the hook as they passed the total in the 38th over.

At Lawrenny, the hosts lost to Pembroke Dock who passed the hosts’ 107 for the loss of seven wickets.

Steve Campbell scored 23 for Lawrenny and Phil Cole took 5-32 while for the Dock, Luke Murray hit 32, Nic Daley 22 while Steve Alford took 3-18.

Two games in division four fell foul of the weather with Hundleton’s match against Crymych abandoned and Narberth seconds v St. Ishmaels.

Hook seconds hammered Kilgetty seconds by nine wickets after Kilgetty were all out for 79 while Pembroke seconds were all out for 30 against Saundersfoot seconds with Kevin Sykes taking 3-8 and Chris Parker 4-19. Simon Stanford then hit 19 in the nine wicket win.

Meanwhile, in division five, Laugharne beat Carew thirds by 45 runs.

Laugharne hit 170-7 thanks to Craig Hurst’s 76 and Shaun Lynch’s 39.

Wayne Reynolds then took 3-13 as Carew were 125-7, Aled Davies hitting 35 for them.

Cresselly thirds lost to Stackpole seconds after being bowled out for 60.

Mike May, Jack Corbett, Russell Roberts and John Harries all took two wickets for Stackpole while for Cresselly, Megan Arthur and Josh Lewis took two apiece.

Another low scoring game at Haverfordwest saw the fourth team lose to Whitland thirds.

Haverfordwest were all out for 86 as Stuart Harries took 3-0 and Mark Lee 2-2 while in reply the visitors passed it for the loss of one wicket as Adam Davies finished 48 not out.
