Pictured above are Haverfordwest Thirds who defeated Carew Thirds to lift the Ken Morris Memorial Cup.

The match, hosted by Narberth at the Lewis Lloyd Ground, was actually the ‘2018’ final, having been postponed last year because of bad weather.

In this early season contest, though, it was Haverfordwest who held the upper hand after Carew disappointed with the bat in their first innings, totalling only 54.

The Town replied with a solid 124 for 7 and after that it was was always going to be an uphill task for the young villagers.

To be fair, though, they made a good fist of it and battled back bravely in their second knock, with man of the match Ashley Smith turning what looked like being a ‘walkover’ into a really competitive game by launching six after six in scoring 67 off just 32 balls.

The Carew second innings total of 145 for 5 left Haverfordwest needing just 76 to lift the trophy, which they eventually achieved for loss of just one wicket as they finsihed on 77 for 1.
