They’ve done it again - Lawrenny, this year’s giant killers (and now harrison-Allen finalists) shocked Pembrokeshire cricket with yet another win against one of the big boys.

They beat Cresselly about a month ago to knock them off their perch and now in defeating Haverfordwest they have helped Cresselly regain the lead at the top of division one.

It couldn’t be any tighter at the top and Lawrenny are playing their part in that.

They beat Haverfordwest by four wickets, reaching 220-6 in reply to the visitor’s 219-9. It was a team effort too with Ryan Morgan and Ian Jenkins taking three wickets apiece and in reply Steve Campbell scoring 67 not out, Patrick Elliot 34 and Morton 32.

Cresselly, meanwhile, were at Johnston and with all due respect to the Tigers, they were expected to win and they didn’t disappoint gaining 28 points in doing so.

Johnston were all out for 120 as Sam Harts took four wickets and Tom Arthur three before Dan James hit 42 not out to seal the win.

Defeat for Whitland at home to Llangwm however as the visitors prevailed by three wickets chasing down Whitland’s 151 all out. Steffan James starred for the Borderers once again hitting 43 and taking 3-42.

A loss for Kilgetty too against St Ishmaels who have gained a little over the third from bottom side.

Kilgetty scored a healthy 170 all out but Tish only lost three wickets in passing the total.

Kurtis Marsh hit 70 for the hosts and Toby Poole 31.

Jack Bowen hit the headlines for Whitland seconds as his 198 helped the Borderers’ second string reach 304-7 against Cresselly seconds but it was all in vain. Not only did he fall two runs short of a deserved double century his team managed to lose and lose by eight wickets too after Neal Williams hit 139 in the reply before he retired hurt.

Dai Lee hit 45 for Whitland too while Ryan Lewis blasted a quickfire 83 not out to help the hosts win.

A second century of the season for young Tom Mansbridge helped

Saundersfoot beat Pembroke by 146 runs.

The visitors to Crickmarren struck 234-4 with Mansbridge hitting 116 and James Caine 68.

In reply Neil Powling took four Pembroke wicket as they were all out for 88.

Carew beat Narberth with ease bowling Narberth all out for 85 and passing it for the loss of one wicket.

Tudor Hurle and Rhys Davies both took three wickets for the Rooks with no-one shining for the visitors.

Ian Sefton hit 30 not out in reply and Nic Scourfield an unbeaten 29.

A draw for Stackpole at Haverfordwest seconds as the Lillies finished on 185-6 in reply to the home team’s 216-7.

Josh Davies hit 92 for the visitors while Simon Bevan hit 62 and took 2-62. Iwan McDonald took 3-68.

In division three Pembroke Dock slipped off top sport in the battle of the big boys with their victors, Carew seconds overtaking them at the helm.

The Dock scored 152-9 with Nick Daley hitting 30 and Scott Griffiths 26 but it was never going to be enough as James Hinchcliffe and Karl Thomas both took three wickets.

In reply Carew hit 155-3 after Scott Richards blasted 55 not out.

Narberth seconds lost to in-form Herbrandston being bundled out for 133. Only David Johns with 40 made a score of note. Herbie lost seven wickets in reply with Matthew Johns taking 3-22.

Steve Lewis hit 116 not out and there were half centuries for Hugh Griffiths and Alfie Buckle for Lawrenny seconds in their 247-2 against Llechryd seconds who reached 218-5 in reply.

Meanwhile nine man Lamphey had Neyland seconds 35-5 in reply to their 134 all out but eventually went down by three wickets as the visitors reached 135-7.

James Skeels scored 74 for the hosts while Grant Cole took 3-18.

In division four, Saundersfoot seconds scored 216-8 against Hundleton who were 109 all out in reply.

Chris Hawkes scored 63 for the hosts while Toby Pappachan hit 43 and Nav Kawale 33.

In reply Kevin Sykes took 3-14 and Pappachan 3-18 as the visitors had no answer.

Laugharne had an easy win at Crymych bowling the hosts out for 75 and passing it for the loss of one wicket.

Shaun Lynch took 4-7, Simon Davies 3-9 while Kevin Pearce struck 43 not out in reply.

In division five there were wins for Carew thirds who beat Neyland thirds by eight wickets.

Neyland scored 102-8 with Carew hitting 105-2. Rhydian Rees struck 86 not out for Cresselly thirds while Lucy

Johnson took 3-13 as the Doves beat Pembroke Dock seconds by 84 run with the visitors being dismissed for 154 in reply to the home team’s 238-7 while Kilgetty seconds won too beating Haverfordwest fourths by 12 runs.

Kilgetty scored 192-7 thanks to Andrew Evans’ 90 while Matthew Lewis took 3-35 in reply as the Town scored 180 all out.

Whitland thirds meanwhile beat Pembroke seconds by 145 runs as Pembroke were all out to the hosts’ 189-8.

Wayne Jones score 71 not out for Whitland and Rob Woen 67 with two wickets each for Owen, John Fuller and Tom Boorthroyd.
