A tweet by Carew’s Tim Hicks said it all.
3.20 and I’m on the beer! This is turning out to be the greatest decision to relegate the league champions ever!!
The tweet came after Carew hammered Whitland seconds, bowling the hosts out for 55 as Max Brindley and Nick Davies took three wickets apiece. By 3pm the game was all over after Chris Cole slammed 27 not out and Hicks 21, his being the only wicket to fall.
Hicks isn’t the only one to think the decision was wrong, plenty think Carew should have been punished for their ‘against the spirit of the game’ declaration in the final, championship deciding match against Cresselly last season, but most think a points deduction at the start of this season would have sufficed.
Results like this prove that to be the case.
