After being bowled out for just 124 at Carew, anyone thinking that Narberth could have pulled off a win would have been taken for a fool yet they nearly did as the Rooks stuttered to a two wicket victory.
After Tom Davies took 4-23 and Neil Gregory 3-34, only Kyle Quartermaine with 61 and Jordan Howell with 23 could get to drips with the hosts’ bowling.
In reply, Ben Quartermaine took 4-50 as the hosts made hard work of reaching their target as Brian Hall hit 30, Tim Hicks 24 and Tom Davies 21.
The game between Lawrenny and Cresselly was evenly poised when rain curtailed proceedings.
Cresselly had amassed a whopping 267-3 in their innings after Phil Williams struck 75 not out, Simon Cole 54 and Iwan Izzard a blistering 94.
In reply, Lawrenny were 199-7 when the rain came after Alistair Edwards hit 43, Ian Jenkins 39 not out and Harry Thomas 39. Sam Harts took 4-48.
Whitland’s match at Johnston was delicately poised before rain intervened and abandoned the game. Johnston has earlier scored 211-9 after Ben Harvey took 5-43 with Whitland stuck on 164-2 in reply before the heavens opened.
With just four games to go, Kilgetty moved to the top of Division Two as they had to settle for a draw against Haverfordwest seconds with just one wicket needed for an outright win.
Kilgetty batted first and scored 221-5 after Kurtis Marsh hit 59, Ross Hardy 61 Tom Lewis 30 not out and Jack Parkinson 31.
In reply, Haverfordwest hung on at 187-9 after Marsh took 3-45 and Hardy 4-18.
Whitland seconds meanwhile lost at home to Carew seconds after being dismissed for 141 I reply to the hosts’ 211-7.
Ceri Brace fell one short of a well-deserved century for the visitors as he was run out on the last ball of the innings and Rob Scourfield hit 62 in their total with Matthew Lewis taking 3-50 for the hosts.
In reply, he struck 24 and Paul Oeppen 46 alongside David Lee’s 25, but 5-17 from Scourfield helped dismiss the Borderers 70 runs short of the target.
Cresselly seconds look doomed for relegation after they lost at home to Llangwm by four wickets.
Cresselly hit 189-7 thanks to Lyn Richards’s 60 not out and Matthew Webb’s 36, but Llangwm cruised home.
Richard McKay hit a superb unbeaten 80 for Stackpole in their win over Pembroke who slipped to second as a result.
The Lillies hit 214-8 in their innings with Lewis Gibby hitting 51. Jonathan Rogers took three wickets and Billy Wood two.
Wood struck 40 in the reply and Barry Evans 70, but the visitors were dismissed just four runs shy of what would have been an excellent run chase.
In Division Three Lamphey’s win over Crymych puts them just 30 or so points away from the promotion race after they eased to an eight wicket win.
Crymych reached 142-9 as Hywel Gibbs and Scott Brunton shared four wickets and Brunton was there at the close too, hitting 48 not out.
He and Jake Griffiths shared a 50 opening stand in which Brunton added just seven runs as Griffiths slammed the bowling for a brisk 58 before being dismissed.
Pembroke Dock were indebted to Peter Kingdom’s superb 78 not out and John Hay’s 49 not out as they cruised to a nine wicket win over Haverfordwest thirds who scored 181-9.
John Cumani, Declan Scourfield and Geraint Blair each took three wickets for the Dock.
Meanwhile, Tom Mansbridge was on form again for Saundersfoot taking 4-41 and scoring 31 in their win over Herbrandston who were dismissed for just 111 after Neil Powling took a hat-trick in his 3-44.
Lawrenny seconds won too beating Llechryd by 55 runs after scoring 164-8 in which John fuller hit 56 not out and John Beff 30.
In reply, Steve Cole, Matthew Kidney and Tim Mills each took two wickets to dismiss the North Pembrokeshire outfit for just 109.
In Division Four, Narberth seconds had a good win at home to Burton seconds after sneaking home by two wickets.
Burton were all out for 202 thanks to David Johns’s 6-31. He then hit 80 in the reply, together with Huw Simpkins who hit 20.
Kilgetty seconds are in second place in Division Five after a 12 run win away at Llangwm thirds.
Kilgetty were all out for 161 thanks to Ollie Gamble’s 41 and Andrew Evans’s 32 and then Llangwm were all out for 149 after Gamble took 5-5 and Andrew Lewis 3-40.
Pembroke seconds were all out for 78 against Johnston seconds who eased to an eight wicket win, while Hundleton drew with Saundersfoot seconds after the Seasiders scored 185-8 and the home side closed on 136-7.
Paul Walkey hit 43 not out for the hosts, while Yannik Parker struck 96 for the visitors.
Whitland thirds meanwhile beat Pembroke Dock seconds who were all out for 35 as Dewi Davies took 3-5.
Whitland then passed it for the loss of seven after Andrew Wood took 3-14 and Rob Jeffrey 4-12.
Mark Meyrick was the toast of his Cresselly third’s team mates in scoring 103 not out but this wasn’t enough to prevent them from going down at St. Ishmaels’ seconds.
Cresselly hit 196-6 with Luke Cole hitting 32 not out and despite him and Paul Boyle taking a brace of wickets each, Tish strolled home.
Finally, Stackpole seconds enjoyed an eight wicket success at Neyland after the hosts scored 196-6 and the Lillies passing it with ease thanks to Roger Lewis’s astonishing 135 not out.
Earlier, George Smith took 4-21 for the visitors.
