It was an exciting end to the summer term for the young cricketers of Sageston and Saundersfoot schools when they competed in the Welsh Kwik Cricket finals at the Swalec Stadium, Cardiff.

Mostly made up of players from Lawrenny U11s and a combined Saundersfoot/Kilgetty U11s, both teams acquitted themselves well against strong opposition.

Sixteen teams competed in the event that was eventually won by Ysgol Gyfun Cymraeg Bryniagon.

Saundersfoot narrowly missed out on a semi-final place on run count while there was a special moment for Sageston bowler Oscar Lewis who took a hat-trick in the first over of one of their matches.

Saundersfoot: Willem Beck; Rhys Emanuel; George Ducket; Imogen Scourfield; George Morgan; Louie Treadaway-Williams; Cemlyn Bolton; Iwan Duffy; Ollie Morris; Nathan Harrison; Harry Morgan.GIRLS SHINE AT THE SWALECTwo Pembrokeshire schools narrowly missed out on a chance to be crowned Welsh winners of the Regional Girls Kwik Cricket Finals at the Swalec Stadium, Cardiff recently.Cleddau Reach and Roch both reached the semi-final stages only to lose out against Marshfield and Rhiwbina respectively.Of the 18 schools competing at the event, three were from Pembrokeshire, the other school being Tenby’s Hafan y Môr In the first three fixtures all Pembrokeshire Schools Won their games while in the fourth, Cleddau Reach beat West Park, Roch beat Nottage while Hafan y Mor agonisingly lost out to Ysgol Griffiths Jones on run count.In the Semi Finals Cleddau Reach lost to Marshfield 242-270 and Roch narrowly lost to Rhiwbiena in a game that went down to the last ball 247 -255 and with a bit more luck and with some decisions going their way in the final over, they could easily have won. Nevertheless they all had a great day acquitted themselves, their schools and Pembrokeshire well.Special mention to Alice Morgan from Roch who had an outstanding game on her Birthday!The Teams where well coached by Cleddau Reach by head teacher Nick Groves, Jon Thomas and Nathan Evans from Hafan Y Mor and Simon Holliday Roch.
