Tenby Youth Club have received a boost from town councillors with a view to helping them develop a garden project at the facility.

The organisation based at Greenhill Avenue, are in the process of redeveloping their garden area so it can be a ‘safe, accessible and fun’ place for all young people that attend.

Correspondence that came before Tenby Town Council at their meeting on Tuesday night, explained that the Youth Club were introducing planting beds for them to start growing fruit and veg, so they could form a ‘cook it, eat it’ programme at the club.

The garden, which they are looking to complete by the summer term, would also include a basketball and games area, as well as a BBQ with picnic benches and flower beds to attract wildlife.

Councillors backed the project and said that they would be willing to part fund a ‘summer house’ for the club, by contributing over £300 towards the scheme.

“Their ambition is marvellous, and I hope they get all they’re endeavouring to get, and I hope we can support them in any way we can,” said Clr. Mrs. Christine Brown.

“I would love to support them, I’ve been up there and seen the youngsters working very hard to establish the facility,” agreed Clr. Mike Evans.

“I, too, have seen the fabulous work the team there are doing in rebuilding the youth club set-up, and a number of people are already attending,” added the Mayor, Clr. Laurence Blackhall.
