Pupils and staff at Tavernspite CP School embraced the events of World Book Day on March 7 by dressing up as characters from their favourite stories.
The day of events commenced with the school librarians giving a presentation based on their favourite authors and their love and enjoyment for reading.
Amelie Upstill, one of the Year 6 librarians, said: "It was a great start to our day and I really enjoyed talking about Enid Blyton and why I think that she is such a great author."
Following on from this, the Key Stage 2 children visited all of the Foundation Phase classes, sharing and reading stories linked to the character which they depicted. There was a 'book swap' held, whereby the pupils changed and swapped books, a simple example of Tavernspite School's continued work based on reusing and recycling.
Mrs. Sarah Arthur, deputy headteacher said: "World Book Day is a celebration of stories and books - it is a wonderful opportunity for all children to enjoy reading and share their experiences in a magical and imaginative way!"
