Tenby captain Will Holmes led by example by having a great game and topped it off by scoring the winning try.
The visitors took the lead after five minutes, with an unconverted try.
The Seasiders battled back hard, though, and wore down the opposition, with centre Greg Caine scoring a try after 30 minutes, which Dan Robins converted, to give the home side a 7-5 lead at half-time.
Whitland took the lead again after five minutes of the restart, with a penalty under the posts after showing good defence which turned into an attack.
Tenby started to look the fitter side for last 20 minutes and they finally regained the lead with less than 10 minutes to go, with Holmes crossing for a good try, after prop Rob Luly had taken out three defenders on a run and offloaded to the skipper, who went in under the sticks.
Despite an unsuccessful conversion, Tenby held out to win 12-8.
Notable mentions go to prop Luly, who made good ground every time he had the ball, and Matthew Davies at fullback, who also played well and defended well, as did the whole team.
The result meant that Tenby maintain their unbeaten record and cemented their place at the top of the Scarlets SE League at the halfway mark of the fixtures.
