The country lanes and roads of Pembrokeshire have increasingly featured lycra-clad athletes in intensive training over the past few weeks; preparation for Ironman Wales 2014 is well underway. With 2,000 athletes from 49 countries participating, families and supporters will flock to the county to cheer on loved ones. Many other visitors and residents will also turn out to see the spectacle of elite athletes challenging themselves to complete the gruelling event. Competition will be fierce. Competition for a great vantage point to watch the event unfold will be (almost) as fierce! Narberth is the northernmost section of the route and provides the perfect place to support the athletes. Recently revealed in the national press as the sixth friendliest town in the UK to live (and the only Welsh town to feature in the top 20), spectators will find themselves welcomed and positively encouraged to make as much noise as possible to boost flagging participants and send them on their way to the finish. High Street and Spring Gardens are closed for the event, providing a fantastic stretch of road to easily accommodate supporters whilst still leaving open access to the main car park. Clappers and whistles will be on hand to ensure that everyone can get involved and a bouncy castle will help keep even the smallest spectator happy. Why not choose to make the friendliest town in Wales your destination to view the Ironman Wales 2014 Triathalon, described as the most demanding one-day challenge in the world?
