Sir,
I was coming home from Pembroke Dock today (Saturday, August 22), and as I went along the road, I noticed that no-one seemed to signal that they were going to go left or right or straight on, as at a roundabout, or indicate that they were going to turn right or left, never mind if they were slowing down or stopping - there was no signal at all.
As part of the driving test, you have to use these signals, so why have people stopped using them as part of driving, which most people do everyday?
On a test, and before the test, you are taught to use signals (right and left in plenty of time, when there is someone to signal to), and on a roundabout. A left-hand signal when taking the first exit and a right-hand signal when taking any exit past 12 o’clock, providing it’s not the first, and a left-hand signal opposite the exit before the one you wish to leave by.
There is nothing a driver can do but get annoyed when he or she doesn’t know what you are doing, and he or she sits there like a lemon trying to figure you out!
I have been driving for a number of years, but I never saw it as a problem before, but now I have, and I must admit, that I don’t like it. Please help other drivers to enjoy their days out too!
J. Rees,
