It’s World Book Day on March 7 so we are having two activities on that day to celebrate it.
In the morning we are having a Book Sale; this will be in the hall from 10am until 2pm, so there are plenty of chances to pick up a bargain. In the afternoon we are having a children’s event: Create a Decorative Kite, inspired by the book and film ‘Mary Poppins’.
This will also be in the hall, at 3.45-4.30 pm; it is suitable for children aged 6-11, who must be accompanied by an adult. This is a free event, but booking is essential.
On Friday, March 8 there is a Breast Cancer Support event in Saundersfoot Library, suitable for anyone affected by this illness; meet others with similar experiences, and find out about some of the books and services available to help with coping. This is at 2 pm in Saundersfoot Library, with no need to book and no charge for the event.
Baby Rhyme Time is back after the half-term break on March 11 at 10.30 am for half an hour of stories and songs for pre-school age children and their adults. There’s no need to book for this, and there’s no charge, just turn up and enjoy the fun.
Do you have a smartphone, laptop or tablet computer which you would like to understand a little better? Our Digital Champion Volunteer Roger runs a drop-in session every Monday morning 10-12, just bring your gadget along and ask your question.
There’s no need to book and it’s free. If you have a more in-depth question for him, there are two bookable periods, also free of charge, one at 12-12.30pm and the other at 12.30-1pm. If Saundersfoot is more convenient for you, our other Digital Champion Volunteer Simon will be there on March 5 and March 19, 10am-1pm; it is still free but it is necessary to book in advance. Call Saundersfoot Library on 01437 776050 or Tenby Library to book.
Library members with smartphones, tablets (not Kindle) or computer access can also borrow a wide range of e-books and e-audiobooks and read e-magazines completely for free through the libraries page of the council website www.pembrokeshire.gov.uk/using-library-services/247-e-library.
New books in this month include novels for armchair detectives by Andrea Camilleri, Elly Griffiths and J.D. Robb. Non-fiction new books include iPhone Made Easy, Allotment Month by Month, and Maid by Stephanie Land, which was recently serialised on Radio 4.
New DVDs in this month include the latest version of A Star is Born, and Smallfoot where a young Yeti discovers that creature of myth – a human! DVDs can be rented for a week, with charges starting from £1.75, while books are borrowed for three weeks for free.
Orange recycling bags and food waste bags are also available for free at the library; just ask at the counter.
For more information and for booking events, please call Tenby Library on 01437 775151 or 01834 843934 or email [email protected].
