In the Mayor of Whitland, Clr. Jenny Davies-Scourfield’s festive message to readers, she stated: “I’m delighted, as Mayor, to have the opportunity to send this festive message to everyone in Whitland at this time of year.

Having been born and bred in Whitland the town is at the centre of my heart and I am proud to call it my home.

The past 18 months has reminded us all that we rely on an array of essential workers and volunteers who hold our society together and continue to deserve our thanks.

So, my thanks go to everyone who has steadfastly turned up to do essential work, including NHS staff, emergency workers and carers; people who have gone to work or volunteered every day in order to serve us all.

At Christmas, we should think of the bereaved, those who are continuing to battle illness and those who may be lonely, isolated or vulnerable as a result of this devastating virus.

Despite the challenges we’ve all faced, there are so many reasons to find hope and take inspiration.

As we move into 2022, our proud Welsh fighting spirit, which has seen us through the past challenges, will see us into better times ahead.

Let’s continue in the spirit of hope and optimism but no matter what the future holds we must always support each other.

Whitland Town Council continues to make plans for the future and is very much looking forward to working with, and supporting you all, in 2022.

In the words of a beautiful Welsh Blessing: ’Wishing you a house full of sunshine, hearts full of cheer, love that grows deeper each day of the year’.

May the Christmas season fill your home with joy, your heart with love and your life with laughter.

Nadolig Llawen a Blwyddyn Newydd Dda.”

Jenny Davies-Scourfield
