Road traffic restrictions will be in place along Tenby’s Bridge Street at the start of next month to allow for water mains works to take place.
The ‘temporary restrictions’ order from Pembrokeshire County Council will prohibit all vehicular traffic (other than exempted vehicles) from proceeding along the section of Bridge Street, from its junction with St. Julian’s Street west to its junction with Crackwell Street, so that Welsh Water can carry out the work.
The alternative route for traffic will be via St Julian’s Street, Tudor Square, High Street and Crackwell Street, which will be temporarily made two-way to enable access to properties located along its length where practicable.
“It is intended that the restrictions, which will be signed accordingly, will come into effect on Monday, February 5, and remain in force for approximately six weeks,” wrote PCC’s head of highways and construction, Darren Thomas, in correspondence that came before members of Tenby Town Council at their meeting on Tuesday night.
Mayor, Clr. Mrs, Sue Lane, conceded that the while the water main replacement works were necessary, it seemed an ‘awful long time’ for that section of the road to be closed to vehicles.
