‘Tenby is obviously doing something right,’ says Clr. Tish Rossiter (last week’s Observer) of the town’s appearance high up in a holiday hotspot list.

Not just ‘something’: Tenby does a lot that’s right. But the community as a whole could do so much more to invigorate this beautiful town and bring people together, not least by opening up opportunities instead of throwing out a barrage of negative responses to fresh ideas before they’ve even been tried.

So let’s encourage pop-up cinema and indoor bowling venues and high-street shops where tomorrow’s designers and baristas and musicians and film-makers can trial their wares - for a week, a month or all year round. Let’s issue temporary licences for street vendors to show off their hats and jewellery.

Wake up and smell the coffee. Let’s capture the zeitgeist before it’s too late.
