Saundersfoot’s Regency Hall welcomed its first villagers on Monday to receive the Covid-19 vaccine.
The vaccine programme roll out plans for those in the age group eligible began, with the Regency Hall making all their rooms and facilities available.
Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority and Saundersfoot Community Council have provided exclusive car parking spaces for those receiving the vaccine, with Saundersfoot Harbour Commission also dedicating additional spaces on the harbour.
For residents of Saundersfoot and surrounding areas who are registered with Saundersfoot Surgery, Tuk Tuk Time in Begelly have also offered free facilities to transport senior citizens to scheduled appointments in safety, comfort and style.
Tuk Tuk Time said how lovely it was to pick up a ‘wonderful lady’ Miss Baddley from Wooden who is 81 years young.
Miss Baddley remarked: “It was lovely, thank you so much. My daughter was unable to take me this time and I don’t want to take the bus anymore. I’ve not left the house since March. My son lives in Singapore and as I’ve had my photo taken hopefully he will be able to see it!”
Tuk Tuk driver driver Craig said: “It was wonderful to pick up Miss Baddley to take her for her vaccination. The car parking volunteer marshals at The Regency Hall are doing a great job.
“I went for a quick coffee whilst Miss Baddley was having her vaccination but had to rush back as the whole process took only 15 minutes and I’d thought it would be at least 30!”
The very first residents to be vaccinated in the Regency Hall were Joan and Lionel Allen.
Saundersfoot’s county councillor Phil Baker said: “Once again everyone who has been asked for support have come up trumps.”
