A trial ‘park and ride’ bus over the Whitsun period in Tenby has seen a large number of people using the facility councillors heard this week.
Clr. Mike Evans had asked for the matter to go on the agenda of the town council, and in his absence at the meeting on Tuesday night, the town clerk, Andrew Davies, reported that on average, 550 passengers used the bus per day, from the Salterns.
“If that figure is the daily average, then that’s the equivalent of 10 coach loads of people coming into the town, which is fabulous!” commented Clr. Laurence Blackhall.
“Yes we had a fabulous Whitsun for the town, but should we also look at that week for an option to extend the pedestrianisation scheme?
“People have raised it and so have businesses, so I’m just floating the idea out there to see what everyone thinks,” he continued.
Clr. Mrs. Tish Rossiter said that she felt that it would be too much upheaval just to extend the scheme for that week, with new signage required.
