Pembrokeshire College student Tom Parkes picked up another second place spot in a Welsh bricklaying competition by winning silver in the Guild of Bricklayers regional junior competition recently.

Tom (17), from Crymych only started on the Foundation Construction Award in Brickwork course in September and is already 'showing real promise through dedication and a superb attitude' said lecturer Richard Fussell.

"Tom did incredibly well, especially for a first year student, and this was on the back of coming second at the SkillBuild Competition earlier in the year.

"He is a credit to the college and his father who employs him as an apprentice for his company - Parkes Construction."
