Thanks have been expressed this week to locals who support Tinman Tuesday Kilgetty And Surrounding Areas, who collect items for local Foodbanks via PATCH.
Recent Facebook posts from PATCH shared how urgent help is needed as they are even busier than normal, and had run out of so much food, but were unable to get a delivery arranged. As local people face financial difficulties and benefit cuts PATCH have more people coming through for help and they are crying out for support. PATCH noted that in one week they gave to 160 people, which was 2,400 meals; with 41 people visiting in just one day.
There was a fantastic response to this appeal when Tinman Tuesday Kilgetty went out collecting on October 5. On a particularly windy day Sharron Hardwick, Tinman Tuesday Kilgetty, and Rebecca, PATCH Volunteer, were blown away by the generous donations for PATCH. Regular donator, Lyn Lawson, took instant action ordering 10 bags of shopping for PATCH!
These acts of kindness are nothing new. Since the Kilgetty Tinman Tuesday group was set up in 2020 several local people have been regularly donating and their support has not gone unnoticed.
One couple who have shown outstanding support are John and Jane Whitby, they have donated generously to every single collection!
“John and Jane Whitby have donated to every Tinman Tuesday Kilgetty collection since the start, their donations fill our car boot every month! Their care, compassion and generosity are very much appreciated and they are helping to make a real difference,” said Sharron.
Other local people who regularly donate are Jane Martha and the residents of Kilvegly Park, Karen and Mansel Brace, Cheryl Hughes, Christopher and Janet Whyatt, and Wendy Patterson; with The Hoad family, Laura Alberto, Susan Shields and Wendy Morse showing support too. Thanks are also expressed to Tuk Tuk Time who collected donations for the first year and have offered their help in the winter months.
“Each single donation is vital, whether it is a one off or a regular donation, it all helps. At the moment we are relying on these regular donations to keep the foodbanks stocked up, any further support will be greatly appreciated,” Sharron added.
PATCH Manager Tracy sent a message of thanks to all who have supported Tinman Tuesday saying: “It was scary on Friday, running out of items. That had never happened before. Your Tinman Tuesday Kilgetty And Surrounding Area donations are so regular and it’s appreciated very much.”
The next Tinman Tuesday Kilgetty And Surrounding areas will take place on Tuesday, November 2.
