There was an unknown soldier,
Whose face I cannot see,
Who died to save his country,
So valiant was he.
The field where he lies
sleeping,
Is now a sea of red,
Poppies in all their splendour,
Cover our glorious dead.
Buried in our hearts of loved ones,
Bittersweet refrain,
As time passes life goes on,
But still he will remain.
He was one of the mighty fallen,
He gave his life for us,
Just as he sleeps in heavenly peace,
Glorious will he be.
