Sir,
On Wednesday, October 30, I came to Tenby, in the morning, to carry out banking. The weather was dry, but there were strong turbulent winds hitting North Beach and the High Street.
The High Street was clogged up with traffic, but I was able to park opposite WH Smith’s.
Unfortunately, as I was sorting out on the back seat of my car, the paying in book, which contained a large amount of notes, dropped to the road, without me noticing.
The wind blew the notes under the car towards the pavement and North Beach.
Fortunately there were good Samaritans about who immediately collected up as much as possible.
I then took the money to the bank and found that over £200 was still missing.
All this money was from Rotary Disabled Sports raffle ticket sales and donations to the Rotary Polio Plus funds to eliminate this terrible disease.
My wife and I then searched the area, looking for the remaining money, to no avail.
We returned home and reported the incident to the Police on 101.
After lunch, I had phone call from Tenby Police saying that further money had been handed in, could I go and collect it.
Needless to say I went straight in and found out that a great deal of the notes and a cheque had been handed in.
The final result is that somewhere there is £65 of our club’s money, which was lost.
But a very big thank you to all who helped and handed in money, we do have a good society around us.
Without you, our club would have lost a great deal more!
