This exhibition has been going now for 20 years and is referred to as the St John's ‘open art exhibition’ because it is open for any artist to submit their work for display.
Very rarely do the organisers feel a work is inappropriate, and each artist submits a modest hanging fee and gives 20 per cent of any sales, with all these proceeds going to the two chosen charities which are - St John’s Church and Cancer Research.
It is hoped that this year again a good amount can be donated to these charities.
“An excellent, willing and faithful team of helpers will be choosing where best to hang the pictures and displaying the 3-dimensional works and cards on the tables,” said one of the organisers Carol Brinton Thomas.
“Others will be round the town distributing posters and flyers to tell people about the exhibition which is always worth looking at as there will be an amazing selection of original paintings by both professional and amateur local artist available at sensible prices.”
