Terminal illness charity, Marie Curie, is delighted to announce that they have a new volunteer joining their ranks - Tony Wales is to take on the role of Collection Box Coordinator for Tenby and the surrounding areas.

He will be distributing and servicing your counter-top collection boxes throughout the region.

Tony is a well-known local health campaigner and has had considerable experience in health service delivery across the three counties of Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire, and Ceredigion having been the former chairman of the Hywel Dda Community Health Council the Patient watch dog.

“I’m delighted to have the opportunity to help raise much needed funds in helping to support Pembrokeshire dementia suffers,” he said.

Tony will be doing his part to help support Marie Curie’s Pembrokeshire dementia nurse, Angela Dowson.

Last year across Pembrokeshire Marie Curie provided 439 hours of nursing care to 85 patients costing £30,500.

The end-of-life care that Marie Curie provides not only allows our patients to remain at home but gives their family members invaluable emotional and practical support at an extremely difficult time.

The organisation is looking for collectors to help raise funds on the busy streets of Tenby during the Ironman Wales event on Sunday, September 10.

“Join us and have fun collecting with your fellow Marie Curie volunteers; we’ll even kit you out in our eye-catching yellow top hat and tabard!” said Community Fundraiser, Chris Roberts.

“The base for our collection will be St Teilo’s Church Hall, opposite the Five Arches, where tea and coffee will also be available.
