The Mayor of Tenby has continued to thank those in the community that have been there for others during the pandemic.

Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Sam Skyrme-Blackhall last month asked the town’s people to nominate businesses and individuals that have been responsible for providing outstanding support over the Coronavirus crisis.

Last week she was able to present Julie Hurlow with a special certificate of thanks in recognition of acts of kindness that she and her late husband Martin provided to members of the community.

The people of Tenby along with former work colleagues of Martin were able to pay their respects to a man who gave over 35 years of service with the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service, at a special funeral service held on August 7, which was held at the Heywood Lane ground of Martin’s beloved Tenby RFC.

“Nominations referred to the support both Julie and Martin provided to members of the community who were vulnerable, shielding and isolating,” said the Mayor.

“This included cooking and delivering meals and other supplies.

“We do not know what the future holds but if the legacy of the pandemic is more acts of kindness and a sense of community that someone like Martin showed throughout his life, then we will be a better community for it,” added Clr. Mrs. Skyrme-Blackhall.
