THE Tenby Young Writers’ Group is due to start up again on Tuesday, January 17, at Tenby Library, from 5 to 6 pm.
Supported by Pembrokeshire Libraries, the sessions are run by local author, Eloise Williams.
“The workshops are about building creativity, imagination and self-expression. They enhance literacy skills and promote an interest in reading which brings young people into the library. Best of all, for me, is that they are so much fun,” said Eloise.
They are open to anyone between the ages of 11-15 and thanks to the generous support of Pembrokeshire Libraries they are free to all participants.
This year the group will be publishing some of their writing on Pembrokeshire Life Online again and there will also be a display in Tenby Library itself.
For more information, contact Tenby Library on 01437 775151 or just turn up on the 17th.
Eloise is looking forward to running the group again.
“The last sessions were a great success and I think all of the young creatives got something out of them,” she said.
“All new members are welcome and the group is in no way cliquey, so there’s no need to be nervous about joining. It’s a fun, interesting and friendly group and one of the highlights of my working year. I hope to get as many young people writing for fun as I can in 2017,” added Eloise.
Eloise’s first book ‘Elen’s Island’ came out to wide critical acclaim in 2015 and was chosen as one of the Booktrust’s Advent choices next to such greats as Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone and The Night Before Christmas.
Her second book ‘Gaslight’ (for ages nine upwards) was written with a Writers’ Bursary from Literature Wales and will be launched at The Cardiff Kids Literature Festival in April this year.
She is also delighted to be an author in the line-up for The Biggest Book Show on Earth alongside Cathy Cassidy and Abi Elphinstone in March and will be appearing at lots of local festivals this summer.
