Sir,

We just want to let people know via your ’paper that the water community of Tenby are exceptional!

During unexpectedly high winds, recorded at the local weather station as reaching 57 knots (Force 11), our boat parted her mooring lines and went ashore on the rocks just north of North Beach.

Promptly, the inshore lifeboat attended to ensure that no lives were at risk.

An expertly handled rescue of our boat was put into action.

With Chris Salisbury (deputy harbourmaster) co-ordinating, initially with fishermen Richard Collins (Simply Seafood) and Tommy Thomas then joined by John Blair (Sunshine Tenby Fishing) on the water.

Once safely in the harbour, John Blair, assisted by other fishermen, repaired the rudder which had broken off and the damaged steering.

This made our boat, despite many ‘battle scars’ to one side able to sail again.

We cannot express enough our thanks and gratitude for the generosity and help that Tenby people have shown towards us.

Tenby - you are amazing!
