Sir, There has been much anticipation over the last week or so about the reinstatement of the Tenby Town Bus Service and information had been eagerly awaited.

What a let down. We have NOT been given a Tenby Town Service. What we have been given is the established bus service from Pembroke Dock to Tenby (with some stops being axed and a few others being added).

Does this service go around the estates picking up and dropping off as the previous service did, or is there just one stop?

The ‘Town Bus’ was well used by many elderly and those with mobility problems and I know that the bus that arrived in town at around 10.15 am had many residents of the outlying estates travelling at that time.

It was usually the same people on the same bus and if there was someone ‘missing’ from that bus, voices could be heard asking “where is Mr./Mrs./so and so today?” It was also usually those same passengers going home from the bus station in Park Road at around midday.

These buses were not just a form of transport for many people, but also gave contact with others, possibly the only contact they might have that day.

I find that Mr. Owen Roberts’ comment “that when a bus service is removed we get people canvassing for the service to be reinstated, when in reality very few of them will actually use the bus” in this instance is not correct. You give us a bus at convenient times and we will use it, but NOT at 8.30 am. Is this the bus that will be monitored for usage!

If a Park and Ride service can be provided during the summer months for visitors, why is it that residents are not being catered for?
