Meet Tenby Tommy’s - a newly-formed group training to take part in next July’s Long Course Weekend running events.
Tenby Tommy’s is being led by local mum Louise James who decided a few months ago that she was going to run the Wales Long Course Half Marathon to raise money for the charity Tommy’s.
“They do research into the cause of miscarriage, still birth and premature birth,” explained Louise.
She continued: “I want to raise awareness to these issues and let people out there realise they are not alone.
“After suffering three miscarriages in two years whilst trying to have a second baby and finally this year giving birth to a beautiful baby boy, I wanted to do something positive.”
Louise reached out on Facebook to ask if anyone fancied running with her to raise some money.
“The response has been amazing,” she said.
“I had people knocking on my door, sending me messages and stopping me in the street to tell me their stories of heartache or to offer their support in running with me.
“So far we have over 70 people that have joined our group in the hope to take part.”
Kerrie Moran-Morris, of Kerrie’s PMA Fitness, is training the group to get ready for either the 5K, 10K or half marathon events and is busy preparing training routes for the eight months until race day.
“It’s an honour to help out as I too have been affected and had a miscarriage,” said Kerrie.
