Sir, As you may be aware, Tenby Sea Cadets is an independent registered charity and relies heavily on funding along with the support of instructional and non-instructional volunteers who enable the cadet experience to be delivered in the local community.

I am writing to you on behalf of the existing volunteers as a last attempt to seek support for Tenby Sea Cadets.

As an independent registered charity, it is essential that there is a board of trustees in place who have responsibility for all management aspects of the charity. The unit management team is required to meet at least every other month and are primarily responsible for the fundraising, facilities and safety of volunteers, cadets and activities.

An urgent meeting has been called for all supporters at 7 pm on Tuesday, April 30, at Salvation Hall, Upper Park Road, Tenby.

Tenby unit management team has been operating with minimal volunteer numbers for some time. This meeting has been called in the hope that volunteers will come forward to form a management team and secure the future of the charity.

Should a full unit management team not be formed following this meeting, the unit will be at risk of closure. I therefore hope that parents, guardians and supporters will be able to attend the planned meeting and help secure the future of the Sea Cadets in Tenby.

I am sure you will agree the closure of the Sea Cadet unit would be a great loss, not only to the local community, but most of all, the cadets who attend.

Mr. Craig Girling-Jones,

Volunteer & Business Support Manager,

South West Area Sea Cadets.
