“Due to the popularity of these events in the past and in the interests of public safety, it will be necessary to close High Street (from Floral Corner), Tudor Square and St Julian Street (to its junction with Crackwell Street) from 12 noon to 6 pm to allow people to gather in a traffic free environment,” explained the town clerk Andrew Davies.
“While we are trying to keep disruption to a minimum, to facilitate this, no vehicle will be able to proceed into Tudor Square along High Street or St Julian Street from their respective junctions with Crackwell Street between these times. There will also be no access/egress for the Square at its junction with Church Street,” he continued.
Vehicles will still be able to access the harbour area via Crackwell Street under traffic lights. Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.
“It would be greatly appreciated if people could avoid making vehicle journeys during the closure period, however, it is recognised that certain pre-arranged journeys are necessary so if you have any care needs or similar that cannot be rearranged during the closure it would also be appreciated if you could contact the town council offices as soon possible to discuss how these can be accommodated,” added Mr. Davies, who can be contacted on 01834 842730 or by emailing: [email protected]
