Tenby in Bloom have started a programme in parts of the town for sustainable planting.

Speaking to her colleagues at Tuesday night’s meeting of the town council, Deputy Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane, who is the chairman of the town’s ‘in bloom’ organisation, explained that after a discussion with Pembrokeshire County Council’s garden maintenance team, they have decided to go ahead with plans to reduce some of the flower beds in the resort and plant more sustainable shrubs.

“We will be replacing certain areas with shrubs, which hopefully in the long run will reduce the cost of planting,” she said.

“We’re very grateful to all the local organisations that have contributed support to Tenby in Bloom and those that attend the bingo nights, which has allowed us the funds to do this.”

Clr. Mrs. Lane also said that as many of the shrubs as possible that had been donated to the town council and Tenby in Bloom and were planted in Battery Gardens, would also be relocated to other areas of the town, whilst enhancement works take place in that garden.

The town clerk, Andrew Davies, said that over the next couple of weeks, the gardening team would be planting shrubs along the Paragon Gardens, and therefore asked the public to ‘bare with them’ as temporary fencing would be in place around the work.
