Members of Tenby and District Soroptimists celebrated World Awareness Day for young people experiencing mental health issues, with friends from Inner Wheel, at the Qube restaurant on Monday, October 10. This was a friendship coffee morning and highlighted the commitment of both groups to raising awareness of difficulties facing young people today.

Soroptimists are also holding a ‘Festival of Puddings’ at the Giltar hotel, on Friday, November 11 at 7pm. This is also in recognition of Mental Health issues experienced by children and adolescents in their homes, at school, and further education. Proceeds will be donated to the charity ‘Young Minds’ which works towards assisting young people to receive the help they need. The Festival of Puddings will consist of a six course event of mini savoury and sweet puddings. Further details and tickets can be obtained from President Pam Maggs: Tel. 01834 844242 or email [email protected] ; or any Soroptimist member.

Recently, during the summer months, Soroptimist members took part in a sponsored walk. Funds raised will provide water filters in global areas of unclean water.

We are fortunate in our own country to enjoy fresh, clean water by turning a tap.

The filters will prevent diseases affecting families who have to drink contaminated water in many countries around the world.

Each filter costs £40 to buy and install. A substantial amount has been donated, including sponsorship to cover the cost of a filter, from T.P. Hughes.Tenby and District Soroptimists are thankful to everyone who gave so generously.
