Children at Tavernspite CP School are at the forefront of using information and communications technology (ICT) to enhance their work - and that's official!
Following an extensive external assessment, the school has been awarded the prestigious ICT Mark.
The award recognises the school's success in developing the strategic use of ICT in both administration and across the curriculum. Parents will have proof that their children are attending a school at the forefront of modern technology.
Duncan Whitehurst, ICT advisory teacher for Pembrokeshire LEA, said: "The local authority is determined that all local children will have the best opportunity to excel in the jobs market of the future.
"Tavernspite should be congratulated on this wonderful achievement. This demonstrates the excellent ICT management and teaching that is taking place in local schools."
Headteacher Kevin Phelps commented: "We are delighted to be awarded the ICT Mark. It recognises our positive approach to ICT and the benefits it is bringing to our children.
"We believe that ICT can be used in every aspect of learning and that it is essential our children are equipped for the modern world. I am grateful for the hard work of the staff and the high standards of ICT work produced by the children. I would particularly like to thank our ICT co-ordinator, Mr. Richard Owen, who successfully prepared the school for the assessment process."
Niel McLean, executive director for schools and families at Becta, the government-funded body that launched the ICT Mark, said: "Tavernspite School thoroughly deserve the accolade of an ICT mark accreditation. They clearly demonstrate how important it is to take an holistic approach to using ICT in schools. Their investment in new technology has contributed to substantial improvements in learning."
