Quick-thinking members of the public and local police joined forces in responding to an incident in Maenclochog during the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Residents were disturbed by the activities of male youths acting suspiciously in the area.

They contacted police, and then helped officers search for the youths.

As a result of inquiries, a burglary at the shop was uncovered.

However, due to the quickness of the discovery, the proceeds were recovered.

Officers also discovered that two school buses had been damaged.

Further inquires resulted in two youths living on the outskirts of the village were arrested on suspicion of burglary, theft and criminal damage. They were later charged with the alleged offences and bailed to appear in court at a later date.

Said Sergeant Aled Davies: "We as a police service are grateful for the information that local residents living in the Maenchlochog area provided which was paramount to the early police intervention in apprehending the offenders and stolen items.
